“Fly To Your Heart”

Throughout our lives we meet the most wonderful people. She walked through the door into my Grade two classroom. Then all of a sudden, it was the day of her Grade 8 Graduation! And we were walking down a path when the clouds opened. It started to pour. Grabbing our umbrellas and laughing, we ran for cover. Ten minutes later the rain stopped. The sun broke through. A rainbow appeared in the sky and rain drops glistened on the blades of grass. It felt as if we had entered a magical garden…

“Touch every rainbow
Painting the sky
Look at the magic
Glide through your life
A sprinkle of pixie dust
Circles the night
You can fly…”

I love you!

“The Christmas Song”

In our world of emails, texts, and tweets, opening the mailbox to find a handwritten Christmas card is more of a special feeling today than ever before. A Christmas card is a warm, personal way to say to friends and family, “I remember”. I remember the Christmas oranges wrapped in green paper that we got once a day, I remember the wonderful aroma of Grandma’s baking and the unbearable anticipation of Christmas morning, and I remember you.

If you haven’t thought about getting family photo cards, take the time to look at these designs and make it happen.  The perfect time to do it is now…..and Merry Christmas to you!

Please EMAIL ME if you are interested in getting some Christmas cards and saying I am thinking of  you this Christmas!

“And so I’m offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it’s been said
many times, many ways
Merry Christmas to you.”

“With Arms Wide Open”

“Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I close my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face

With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open”
Creed

The nursery is decorated and the tiny clothes are washed and ready to wear. And then we wait. We wait for the birth of a baby who will change our lives and our families in more ways than we can ever imagine.

We wait with  arms wide open…

“You Always Make Me Smile” part 3

Every picture has a story (and a song).
This story needed three parts…a beginning, a middle and an end.
(This is the end. Did you read part one and two first?)

And this day had an ending that had us all smiling!

“I don’t know why, I love you.
I just know I can’t stop thinking of you
OH WAIT
It’s cause you make me smile
You always make me smile”
Kyle Andrews

“You Always Make Me Smile” part 2

I like the chance you take so won’t you dance with me?
(This is part two of the story. You should really read part one first!)

Sometimes life is all about taking chances. Some are bigger than others. Remember,  it was blustery and raining. So do you take a chance on the weather and head out to the farm? Or shoot pictures where it’s warm and dry….?

“You Always Make Me Smile”

Outside, it was cold and raining. Not the kind of day that you would choose for a wedding or to go running. But inside there was an air of celebration, yellow flowers, warm smiles, family and friends. And two different running shoes were being tied together. Caitlin and Chris couldn’t choose the weather but they could choose who they would spend the rest of their lives smiling (well maybe not always smiling), dancing and running with…

“I like that rainbow pair, of gym shoes that you wear.
I like the way you sing and when you dance with me”

“I don’t know why, I love you.
I just know I can’t stop thinking of you
OH WAIT oh oh oh oh oh
It’s cause you make me smile.”
Kyle Andrews

“You’ve Got A Friend In Me”

Up and down, black and white, milk and cookies, paint and canvas, scarves and mittens, ducks and puddles, Buzz and Woodie, yellow and yellow and Matt and Nicki! They love yellow. Their volume and enthusiasm knobs go to eleven. They are pure sunshine when they are together. Best of all they are cousins and friends!
Pixar movies and Matt and Nicki…
This song is for you, Matt and Nicki.

You’ve got a friend in me
You got troubles and I got ’em too
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you
We stick together, we can see it through
‘Cause you’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me

Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them
Will ever love you the way I do
It’s me and you boy

And as the years go by
Our friendship will never die
You’re gonna see it’s our destiny
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
Randy Newman

“This Kiss”

Chris and Cailtin’s wedding day! Remember them from my blog post “Crazy Love.” We spent a fun, crazy afternoon together.

You know how some songs just fit. This song says it all…

It’s the way you love me
It’s a feeling like this
It’s centrifugal motion
It’s perpetual bliss

It’s that pivotal moment
It’s impossible
This kiss, this kiss (Unstoppable)
This kiss, this kiss
Faith Hill

Doesn’t it just make you smile…

Check my blog for more pictures of their wedding in the weeks to come.

“Daddy’s Little Girl”

Well, it should really be “Daddy’s Little Girls”.

Dad’s birthday was coming and they wanted to give him some pictures. Three adorable little girls, each dressed in blue, each with their own idea of how this morning should go. We may not have gotten the shot that we thought we wanted but what we did get…was pure magic!

“You’re sugar, you’re spice, you’re ev’-ry-thing nice,
And you’re daddy’s little girls.” Michael Buble

“Proud Mary”

We got the call… the Prairie Lily was going to be launched. My niece works on the boat. We just happen to love boats. Our daughter sailed the Pacific on a two masted schooner. The sun was shining. How often do you get to see a huge boat (for Saskatoon) get put into the river? The driver who was taking the boat down to the river bank had flown in the from the states that morning. The boat had a story. So I grabbed my camera…

The entire journey was an amazing story. I was there to capture this chapter of her trip to our river. But it was still a long chapter. You don’t just drive a boat down to the river and slide it in. There were power lines to lift. Then they needed two men to lift the power lines so we waited for Sask. Power to send another unit. Boats and trees don’t always go together. Eventually the boat arrived at the new south end bridge which is under construction. This is where she was to be launched. By this time the sun had disappeared behind the clouds. The wind was picking up. Big machines were there building a hard packed road for the truck and the boat to back down. Even boats need all kinds of friends to get into the river. And that’s only the first paragraph of this chapter!

Every picture tells a story. Enjoy the story…

“Big wheel keep on turnin’
Proud Mary keep on burnin’
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river.”
