Breakdown

I hope this old train breaks down
Then I could take a walk around
And, see what there is to see.
(Jack Johnson)

On a trip to the mountains, we found an old deserted roundhouse. A roundhouse is a building used by railroads for servicing locomotives. Roundhouses are large, circular or semicircular structures that were traditionally located surrounding or adjacent to turntables.

Remember my arm – and thinking of what you can do with what there is…
a sore arm, a tripod, and a deserted roundhouse …

Here We Go Again!

Life happens… Just after Christmas I hurt my right arm and have spent the last four months in physiotherapy. My arm is slowly healing and so now I am pushing my arm and my brain to try again. It’s been a long four months… no camera, no computer, no photoshop…
So now I am slowly and not so patiently trying to retrain my arm.
Hemingway said “Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.”
So here I go again… I have learned to love my tripod! And HDR Images! And I am learning how to use a wacom tablet! Who knew that I could use my left hand to use the wacom pen and do some photoshop. So check back to see what I have been doing…
And once again I have had the opportunity to spend some time with some amazing little people.

Red . . . .

They say that in many languages red is the colour for beauty. Red came and found me on a cold winter afternoon.

Her name is Sophie.

Hello World!

Welcome!

I love children’s books and one of my favourite books is Charlotte’s Web.  The author of Charlotte’s Web wrote “We should all do what gives us joy, even if it is only picking grapes 0r sorting the laundry.” Taking pictures gives me joy. Putting them up on a blog scares me. They say, “Do one thing every day that scares you.” This is my one thing.

Find the things that give you joy!

Red Hair and Rainy Days

Nicky

This is my niece Nicky! Red hair and rainy days make for great fun!

It started out as a cool rainy day in Cypress Hills. We woke up to heavy fog and having to wear warm jackets and mittens. We decided to go for drive and ended up in Eastend. On the way back, the sun came out and we came across these old trucks in the ditch. So Nicky, Matt (my son) and I had some fun while the rest of the family amused themselves.

Matt and Nicky

Thanks for a fun afternoon Matt and Nicky!
